Overview of the Promotion Program
With the approval of the Prime Minister, from April 22 to April 26, 2024, Mr. Nguyễn Văn Phương, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the People’s Committee of Thừa Thiên Huế, led a delegation to participate in the Vietnam Local Promotion Program in the United States and Canada, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During their visit to New York, Houston, and Vancouver, the delegation participated in key activities, including the discussion titled “Enhancing Export and Promoting Green and Sustainable Development between Vietnamese Localities and U.S. Partners,” and a forum connecting Vietnamese and Canadian businesses.
Meetings with Diplomatic Delegates
On April 22, 2024, in New York, the delegation worked with the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations, engaging with leaders responsible for consular affairs, science, technology, and trade. Chairman Nguyễn Văn Phương urged the delegation to promote Thừa Thiên Huế’s strengths and connect with businesses in New York for potential investments.
Focus on Clean Energy in Houston
On April 24, 2024, in Houston, the delegation participated in a seminar on “Enhancing Export and Promoting Green and Sustainable Development.” Chairman Nguyễn Văn Phương introduced the province’s potential and opportunities for investment in clean energy and renewable resources, emphasizing the aim of developing clean, environmentally friendly industries.
Strategic Development Goals
Chairman Nguyễn Văn Phương reiterated the province’s commitment to diversifying energy sources based on its renewable potential, especially biomass, solar, wind, and gas energy. He invited U.S. businesses to explore investment opportunities in renewable energy sectors like solar power, LNG, and wind energy, aligning with national energy plans.
Collaboration with U.S. Consulate
On the same day, the delegation visited the Vietnamese Consulate in Houston, where the Consul General confirmed that trade and investment in renewable energy and green technology represent promising collaborative areas between Vietnam and Texas.
Final Events in Vancouver
On April 26, following a meeting with the Vietnamese Consulate in Vancouver, the Thừa Thiên Huế delegation participated in a forum connecting Vietnamese and Canadian businesses. This event attracted over 150 attendees, including 30 CEOs from major Canadian companies and notable guests like Premier David Eby and Minister Jagrup Brar from British Columbia.
Investment Opportunities Highlighted
In addition to enhancing trade and investment between Vietnam and Canada, Chairman Nguyễn Văn Phương emphasized attracting Canadian investments in high-tech industries and renewable energy sectors.
Showcasing Potential
During the program, provincial leaders promoted Thừa Thiên Huế’s strengths in tourism, education, and investment opportunities. The Vietnam Local Promotion Program in the U.S. and Canada aims to showcase Vietnam’s image and potential, particularly that of Thừa Thiên Huế, while attracting investment and fostering economic cooperation with U.S. and Canadian partners.
